Aline & Champagne Augustin

At Marc Augustin et fils nothing happens like on the official planet. Located in Avenay Val d'Or in a hilly site rich in biodiversity, Marc, Maxence and Arthur have implemented permaculture in biodynamics throughout their estate. As inventive as they are imaginative, they are constantly experimenting in the vineyards as well as in the cellar, much to the dismay of their neighbors.

I have always been seduced by their differences, their intuitive work done with the heart without ever being afraid of failure. Their cuvées are always a bit different, lively and vibrant.

In 2016, Marc proposed to make a new vintage of the Aline Collection with him, obviously in an unorthodox way! The choice of the parcel to be harvested was made blindfolded, with a passage of the hands on a map and a second passage on the same map with the help of a pair of divining rods (still blindfolded). I felt as helpless as intrigued but my hands stopped twice in a row on the same plot (Les Prolles) planted in pinot noir on a clay-limestone soil. Deep down, I was a bit skeptical (it could be a coincidence) but Marc was holding in his hand a small piece of paper on which he had scribbled the name of this same plot in the morning.

It may make you smile, but that's how it is at Augustin's and those who know the quality of their champagnes and the energies they contain have nothing to say about the methods that are as gentle as they are incomprehensible.
